NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday inaugurated ‘Bharat Mart‘, a warehousing facility for Indian MSMEs, in Dubai.
UAE vice-president and ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, was also present at the inauguration event.

What is Bharat Mart?

Bharat Mart, which is expected to be operational by 2025, is a warehousing facility enabling Indian companies to trade in Dubai.
It offers a unified platform for Indian exporters to showcase a variety of products under one roof, much like China’s ‘Dragon Mart’.

According to a report in The Economic Times, Bharat Mart is likely to cover an area of over 100,000 square meters and will serve as a multipurpose facility, offering a combination of warehouse, retail, and hospitality units.
The aim is to establish a base and engage in trade from UAE.
The genesis of this project is the presence of similar facilities in China that have been beneficial for their exporters, an official said.
The complex will be located in the Jebel Ali Free Zone (JAFZA), which is a company of DP World.
It will particularly benefit those Indian companies that are planning to expand their operations into Africa, Europe, and the US, Abdulla Al Hashmi, Chief Operating Officer of Parks and Zones at DP World GCC, had said earlier.
