‘Nitish Kumar paltumaar, can switch anytime’: Prashant Kishor on Bihar CM’s NDA wapsi | India News

NEW DELHI: Criticising Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar, political strategist and Jan Suraj chief Prashant Kishor labeled him as a politician who frequently switches sides, making it a norm in his political career.
Nitish Kumar took oath as Bihar CM for a record ninth time and formed a new government with BJP’ after quitting the ‘mahagathbandhan’. Alongside him, Deputy chief ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Sinha, along with six other cabinet ministers were also sworn in.
“I have been saying this since starting that Nitish Kumar can swap anytime. This has become a part of his politics… He is a ‘paltumaar’. But this (resignation of Nitish Kumar) has also proved that not only Nitish Kumar, but BJP and every other leader is also a ‘paltumaar’”, Prashant Kishor said.
Kishor further said that Kumar’s political switches are not unique to him alone, alleging that leaders from various parties, including the BJP, share the tendency to change sides.
The political strategist also criticized the BJP, highlighting the contradiction in their stance. He pointed out that members of the BJP, who previously criticized Nitish Kumar for various issues after he severed ties with the NDA in 2022, are now welcoming him into their fold.
Kumar justified his decision to quit the Mahagathbandhan alliance, citing the unsatisfactory state of affairs. He mentioned receiving suggestions from various quarters, including his party workers, leading him to resign and form a government with the BJP.
Nitish Kumar, who parted ways with the BJP in 2022, had taken the initiative to unite opposition forces against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the ruling party in the national election.
His political journey has seen multiple shifts, including breaking alliances in 2013 due to differences over the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate, and leaving the grand alliance in 2017, citing corruption accusations against the RJD. In 2022, he snapped ties with the BJP again, accusing them of conspiring against him.
