SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir’s State Investigation Unit (Srinagar) has attached four houses in central Kashmir’s Srinagar district that were used to shelter terrorists of the proscribed outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba and its offshoot, The Resistance Force, police said on Monday.
Three of the properties were situated in Barthana Qamerwari, while the fourth was at Sangam Eidgah. The attachment was done in the presence of executive magistrates and other witnesses under relevant sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, police said in a statement. The team of officials on the spot ordered that there must be no alteration or otherwise to the properties without prior permission of the designated authority.
The three Barthana Qamerwari residences belonged to Shaheena and Asif Nath; Altaf Ahmed Dar; Mudasir Ahmed Mir, respectively, while the property in Sangam Eidgah was owned by Abdul Rehman Bhat. Investigations revealed that these house owners wilfully sheltered the terrorists in their homes besides providing them with logistical support.
Pertinently, on May 28, 2022, Parimpora police station received intelligence inputs about a module involved in hiding and providing logistical support to active Lashkar/TRF terrorists, following which a case was registered and the accused arrested. After further investigation, relevant sections of the UAPA were added to the case. On December 2, 2022, a chargesheet was filed before the court against 13 accused, including active terrorists of Lashkar/TRF. The case is still under investigation, police said.
