NEW DELHI: Janata Dal (United) president Nitish Kumar on Sunday took oath as the chief minister of Bihar for a record ninth time. He was administered the oath of office by Governor Rajendra Arlekar at Raj Bhavan.
Along with Kumar, eight new ministers took oath in the new NDA government.
Kumar had earlier in the day resigned as the chief minister, saying “things were not working well” for him in the ‘Mahagathbandhan’ and in the opposition bloc INDIA, and staked claim to form a new government with the BJP, which he had dumped less than 18 months ago.
Who are the new ministers?
Among the 8 new ministers, 3 each are from the BJP and JD(U), one is from Hindustani Awam Morcha and another is an independent MLA.

  • Samrat Choudhary (BJP)
  • Vijay Kumar Sinha (BJP)
  • Dr Prem Kumar (BJP)
  • Vijay Kumar Choudhary – JD(U)
  • Bijendra Prasad Yadav – JD(U)
  • Shravan Kumar – JD(U)
  • Santosh Kumar Suman – Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM)
  • Sumit Kumar Singh – Independent

It is widely expected that BJP leaders Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha will be made deputy CMs in the new cabinet, replacing RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav.
