7 flyers hurt as Air India Delhi-Sydney flight encounters severe turbulence | India News

NEW DELHI: Seven passengers suffered injuries when Air India’s Delhi-Sydney flight on Tuesday encountered severe turbulence.
The Boeing 787 (VT-ANY) was operating as AI 302 when it encountered turbulence.
“During flight seven passengers reported minor sprain. Cabin crew provided first aid with the assistance of a doctor and a nurse who were traveling as passengers, using an onboard first aid kit. AI’s airport manager at Sydney arranged medical assistance on arrival and three passengers took medical assistance. No hospitalisation was required,” said people in the know.
An AI spokesperson said: “Air India’s flight AI302 of May 16, 2023, operating from Delhi to Sydney encountered turbulence mid-air leading to discomfort to the passengers on board. The flight landed safely in Sydney and three passengers availed of medical assistance on arrival, none of whom required hospitalisation. This onboard incident has been reported to the relevant authorities as a standard practice.”
AI 302 had taken off from Delhi at 2.43 pm on Tuesday and landed in Sydney at 7.10 am Wednesday after an almost 12-hour flight (all timings local).
