THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala governor Arif Mohammed Khan kept his customary policy address in the assembly exceptionally brief, lasting just over a minute, on Thursday. His decision to truncate the 62-page speech, marking the beginning of budget session, signalled continued tension between him and CM Pinarayi Vijayan’s LDF government, despite the speech avoiding direct criticism of BJP-led Centre.
Khan chose to read only the first line and the concluding paragraph of the policy address. He left the assembly after the national anthem was played.
The move garnered sharp criticism from Congress-led UDF, who termed it a “mockery of the assembly”. In contrast, LDF played down the incident.
