YSRCP: YSRCP clears second list of candidates with 27 names, 3 MPs to contest assembly elections | India News

VIJAYAWADA: YSRCP released its second list of candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha and assembly elections on Tuesday. Three sitting MPs have been named as candidates for the assembly elections while three legislators have been asked to contest Lok Sabha elections. As promised to take everyone along with him, chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy picked up candidates without dropping the sitting legislators in majority of the constituencies.Former minister Perni Venkatramaiah (Nani), MLAs B Karunakar Reddy, Chevireddy Bhaskara Reddy, Shaik Mustafa and Rajya Sabha member Pilli Subhash Chandrabose have succeeded in getting tickets to their sons. While Perni Nani’s son Perni Krishna Murthy has been named as in-charge for Machilipatnam constituency, Bose’s son Suryaprakash will take the field from Ramachandrapuram constituency in East Godavari district.
Former minister and Penugonda legislator M Sankara Narayana has been asked to contest Lok Sabha elections from Ananthapuram while women and child welfare minister Ushasri Charan will contest from Penugonda. Similarly, former minister and legislator Gummanuru Jayaram has been asked to contest Lok Sabha election from Kurnool constituency. The sitting MP from Ananthapuram has been fielded from Kalyanadurgam assembly constituency. Interestingly, former minister Vellampalli Srinivas got the Vijayawada (Central) segment while his strong follower and minority welfare corporation chairman Shaik Asif has been fielded from Vijayawad (West). At least three minority candidates found place in the second list. While sitting MLA Mustafa’s daughter Noori Fatima has been named as candidate from Guntur East, BS Maqbool Basha was named as candidate from Kadiri in Ananthapuram. Releasing the list, senior minister Botcha Satyanarayana has said that chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had consulted all the party leaders and legislators before clearing the list. He said that social equations were high on the agenda of chief minister as more candidates from BCs were given opportunity to contest the next elections. SC legislator Kambala Jogulu has been shifted from Rajam in Vizianagaram district to Payakaraopet in Anakapalle while new candidate Dr Tale Rajesh has been named as candidate for Rajam. Similarly, Araku MP Goddeti Madhavi has been shifted to Araku assembly while the sitting MLA Kottagulla Bhagyalakshmi has been asked to contest Lok Sabha from Araku (ST). Former BJP MP from Bellary and former Karnakata minister Sriramulu’s sister Joladarasi Santha has been fielded from Hindupuram Lok Sabha constituency. Santha, belongs to Valmki community, joined YSRCP only on Tuesday. However, the list of candidates from Prakasam and Nellore was incomplete as several other segments were yet to be cleared.
