NEW DELHI: NCP chief Sharad Pawar on Thursday took a swipe at the BJP for destabilising duly elected governments in the states. “You talk of providing stable government but break duly elected governments in states,” Pawar said at a rally in Maharashtra’s Beed.

The Maha Vikas Aghadi government of the NCP, Congress and the Shiv Sena in Maharashtra lost power after Uddhav Thackeray’s party was split by Eknath Shinde with the “help” of the BJP. Shinde joined hands with the BJP to become the chief minister with former Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis his deputy.
Sharad Pawar, who was the architect of the MVA government, suffered another blow when his nephew Ajit Pawar rebelled and split the NCP. Ajit Pawar also joined the Shinde government as deputy chief minister.

Since then, the senior Pawar has been holding rallies to target the NCP rebels. His rally today is in Beed, the constituency of key rebel NCP Leader Dhananjay Munde. Earlier this month, Pawar held a rally in Nashik the constituency of Chaggan Bhujbal another NCP rebel. The former Union minister is also expected to stage rallys in other constituencies of rebel NCP leaders.
Sharad Pawar also continued with his attacks on PM Modi over Manipur violence. “PM Modi should have gone to Manipur and understood the pain of people there,” Pawar said.
Taking a swipe at PM Modi’s Independence Day speech, Pawar said “On 15th August, PM Modi said ‘Mi Punha Yein’ (I’ll come back again) I want to tell him a similar thing was said by Maharashtra’s former CM Devendra Fadnavis & he came to power but at a lower post.”
