Veer Zaara‘ is considered one of the most cult love stories of all times in Hindi cinema. The film was directed by Yash Chopra but Aditya Chopra had written the story, screenplay and dialogues. While the film proved to be a block-buster at the box office and continues to be remembered over the years, did you know that Yash Chopra called it ‘one of his most difficult films’.
The film-maker had said that him and Aditya were constantly having arguments during the making of the movie.During a chat with Rediff in 2004, he had said, that since they were constantly having creative arguments, it was the most difficult movie he made. They didn’t have time to think of anything else but to complete the film.
He further had said that they needed to shoot in Punjab during a particular season and all the stars had given their dates. When they returned, they completed the indoor shooting. Hence, people assumed they were secretive about the project because it’s a sensitive topic on India-Pakistan. But the fact is, they never got time to make any announcement.
Aditya and Yash Chopra were also on the crossroads about the film’s title. They had first thought of calling the movie, ‘Yeh Kahan Aa Gaye Hum’. But ‘Veer Zaara’ went better with the mood of the film. They never knew it would make people so curious.
The film had released in November 2004. It was one of the biggest hits that year.
