Uttam Singh in war of words with Anil Sharma over original songs used in Gadar 2 | Hindi Movie News

There is no stopping for Anil Sharma’s Sunny Deol starrer Gadar 2. The film has already entered the 400 crore club and is marching towards 500 crore. Everything about the film – the action, acting and songs – is being appreciated, but all doesn’t seem to be well with the original composer Uttam Singh. Two songs from the first installment of the series Udd Ja Kale and Main Nikla Gaddi Leke were recreated for Gadar 2 and Anil Sharma entrusted Mithoon with this job.
In an interview with Amar Ujala, original composer Uttam Singh went on to state that Anil Sharma never approached him for music of Gadar 2. “They didn’t call me for Gadar 2 and I don’t have the habit of calling and asking for work. They have used two of my songs in the film and I have also heard that they have used the background music that I composed. They should at least have the etiquette to ask me once and talk to me before using my songs in the film,” he said.
But back in June, during an exclusive interview with ETimes, Anil Sharma had said that he had informed Uttam Singh that he is being replaced with Mithoon and added that he wasn’t hurt. “He understood why I brought in Mithoon. After ‘Gadar’ too, I made films and worked with other music directors. If you don’t work with the previous music director, it does not necessarily mean anything,” said Sharma.
He further stated, “Uttam Singh is a highly talented musician and it’s not that he wouldn’t have given me great music. It’s just that I needed a change to go with times. Two of the songs from ‘Gadar’ are in ‘Gadar 2’ untampered, barring improving their sound quality. Four new songs have come in, Arijit has lent his voice and they have all come out beautifully.”
