BHOPAL: Voices of rebellion in the Madhya Pradesh unit of the Congress seem to be getting louder as the party workers are protesting against the ticket allotment by the party.
A group of Congress workers on Tuesday organised a Hanuman Chalisa path, as a mark of protest, outside the residence of former CM and party’s State chief Kamal Nath in Bhopal demanding the candidate declared from Huzur assembly constituency be changed.
The workers also claimed that the ticket distribution was not done on the basis of survey and the party should rethink about the candidate declared from Huzur seat in the state capital. The Congress party has fielded Naresh Gyanchandani from the seat for the upcoming assembly polls to be held next month.
A party worker Vishnu Vishwakarma said, “The ticket distribution for the forthcoming polls has not been done on the basis of the survey. Today, we had come to Kamal Nath regarding changing the candidate from the Huzur constituency. We recited Hanuman Chalisa path here because Kamal Nath is a devotee of Lord Hanuman and somehow he would listen to us.”
Kamal Nath wants to become the Chief Minister, they (party workers) are also praying that he (Nath) becomes the CM and also wins the Huzur assembly seat. The party has given the ticket to a person who is lying on a ventilator and even if the workers try their best, the candidate will not be in a position to win. Therefore, they request that he (Nath) should think again about the candidate once, he said.
He added, “We have to form the government this time and Bajrangbali (lord Hanuman) has blessings on us. With the grace of Bajrangbali, we have to form the government in the state and hence we are reciting Hanuman Chalisa to give him (Nath) wisdom and change the ticket of Huzur constituency so that our government can be formed in the state.”
Earlier on Monday also, congress workers protested outside Nath’s residence to change the candidates of various assembly constituencies for the upcoming assembly polls.
Madhya Pradesh will go to the assembly polls on November 17 and the counting of votes will take place on December 3.
