LUCKNOW: Three Samajwadi Party (SP) Members of Legislative Assembly who voted for the BJP in the recent Rajya Sabha polls were allocated Y category security from the Central Government. The list includes names of Manoj Pandey from Unchahar seat, Rakesh Pratap from Gauriganj and Vinod Chaturvedi from Kalpi assembly constituency. All three have been provided security cover by the Central Reserve Police Force.
A senior police officer at the UP DGP headquarters confirmed the development. He further added that with all the three MLAs security of CRPF personnel will be deployed. Manoj Pandey, Rakesh Pratap Singh and Vinod Chaturvedi all belonging to the Samajwadi Party, had engaged in cross-voting to the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) during the Rajya Sabha elections after rebelling against the SP. Manoj Pandey had also resigned from the position of Samajwadi Party’s chief whip in the UP assembly last month.
The officer added that Manoj Pandey will get a Y plus security, while the other two MLAs Rakesh Pratap Singh and Vinod Chaturvedi will get Y security. He added that the only difference is that while Manoj will get two personal security commandos with him, the other two MLAs will get one each.
Further he added that a Y plus category is a security detail of 11 personnel, including two commandos and police personnel. Y category is a security detail of eight personnel, including one commando and police personnel. The security will be given with the immediate effect.
