Thorang Assembly Election Result 2023: Vote counting in Thorang commenced at 8 am. The counting process in Thorang saw shifts in trends, with Zodintluanga Ralte initially leading. However, MNF candidate R. Rohmingliana surged ahead, ultimately securing victory with 4141 votes as the counting came to an end. The Thorang constituency has witnessed a dynamic electoral battle, reflecting the broader political scenario in Mizoram.
In the ongoing election, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) fielded Shanti Bikash Chakma, while INCnamed Zodintluanga Ralte as its candidate.R. Rohmingliana contested from the Mizo National Front (MNF), and Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) fielded C. Lalnunnema.
During the previous Mizoram Assembly election, the Indian National Congress (INC) secured victory in the Thorang constituency. In the 2018 election, Thorang witnessed an 86.66% voter turnout. Zodintluanga Ralte of INC emerged victorious, securing 4499 votes, while R. Rohmingliana of MNF came in second with 3259 votes.

The Thorang counting process witnessed fluctuations in trends, initially favoring Zodintluanga Ralte. Nevertheless, MNF candidate R. This year, the voter turnout stood at 16.81% during the polling on November 7, 2023.
About Thorang Assembly Constituency
Thorang is a constituency in the Mizoram State Assembly and is also part of the Mizoram Parliamentary constituency. Located in the Lunglei district of the South region, it is classified as a rural seat. The total number of voters in Thorang is 13,175, with 6,789 male voters and 6,386 female voters. In the 2018 Mizoram elections, Thorang had a voter turnout of 86.12%. During the 2018 Thorang election, Zodintluanga Ralte from Congress emerged victorious, defeating R. Rohmingliana of MNF by a margin of 1,240 votes. R. Rohmingliana secured 3,259 votes, while Zodintluanga Ralte received 4,499 votes, with a vote percentage of 40.12%.
