The Week in Drag – RuPaul’s Drag Race top 4 fashions & more – News JoJo

[ad_1]

Hello, hello, hello and welcome to our weekly wrap-up of news from the Drag Race universe. With the finale of RuPaul’s Drag Race season 15 a mere week away, we take a look back at the episode that gave us our top 4 and the queens’ out-of-this-world fashions.

We also bid a sad farewell to drag royalty, let you know about a fabulous fundraiser hosted by William and Alaska and catch up with Drag Race’s long-elusive season two champion. We also have new makeup from Trixie, an un-bear-ably cute wig transformation video from Jaymes Mansfield and some drag DIY from Willam. Let’s get to it and bring it to the runway!

Drag has lost one of its pioneers with the passing of the legendary Heklina. On Monday, Peaches Christ, who was working with Heklina in London, shared the tragic news. Heklina, born Stefan Grygelko, was a fixture of the San Francisco drag scene, hosting the long-running weekly series Mother and helping open San Fran’s legendary Oasis club. After her untimely passing, messages and tweets celebrating the life of this beloved entertainer took over social media.  Heklina was 55 and will be surely missed.

Bianca Del Rio and Raja recap and review last week’s video shoot challenge and stunning runway looks on “The Pit Stop.”

Bob and Monét give us their two cents on the penultimate episode on the latest “Sibling Watchery.”

Raja and Raven toot and boot the Drag Excellence runway looks on “Fashion Photo Ruview.”

The lovely Kylie Sonique Love and Yuhua Hamasaki take a closer look at the final four fashions on “Bootleg Opinions.”

Rock M Sakura and Cash Monet recap the episode and I absolutely LOVE Rock’s look in this video.

Willam and Alaska recently announced a live and online event for a great cause. The pair are joined by Eureka O’Hara, Detox, The Princess, Meatball and other entertainers for “Drag Is Good” A Digital Worldwide Event streaming live from Nashville’s PLAY club on Thursday, April 14. All the proceeds from the show will be donated to the ACLU Drag Defense Fund to fight discriminatory laws in court all over our country, and to local Tennessee mutual aid funds. If you’re in Nashville, you can score tickets for the live event here and if you’re not in Tennessee, you can get tickets for the streaming event here.

I adore Coco Peru, and I relish any chance I get to see this legend, so I was incredibly delighted to see that Coco is this week’s guest on Delta Work’s hilarious series “Very Delta.” She talks about her inimitable wig, Panettone, her role in Trick and so much more.

James Ross (the artist formerly known as Tyra Sanchez) is the latest Drag Race alum to be “Exposed” by Joseph Shepherd. It’s a truly enlightening interview and I am really glad that James spoke about his journey and what has happened since he was crowned season two champion. By the way, Joseph has a Kickstarter set up to raise money for more of his fantastic interviews. You can support him here.
