SRINAGAR: Cops have obtained vital leads regarding the murder of J&K Police head constable Ghulam Mohammad Dar who was gunned down by terrorists near his home in Karalpora, Tangmarg, of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on October 31, DGP RR Swain said Saturday while speaking to reporters after visiting the bereaved family.
“We have lost a member of the police parivaar (family), an honest man, a father, brother and a Kashmiri,” the DGP said, adding that those involved in the crime wouldn’t be spared.
Swain said Pakistan-based terrorist handlers were trying to disturb peace in J&K by sending money to support terrorism. “We will be able to foil their plans only when no one here supports them. Infiltrations would be seriously looked into. We will create a situation where no one will be ready to help the handlers from across the border,” he said.
Dar is survived by his wife and seven daughters. His murder was the third targeted killing in three days. On October 30, a labourer from Uttar Pradesh was shot dead by terrorists in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district. A day before that, an off-duty police inspector Masroor Ahmad Wani sustained critical injuries after he was shot at point-blank range at Eidgah, Old Srinagar, on October 29.
