NEW DELHI: Suspended Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) Lok Sabha MP Danish Ali joined the Congress party in Delhi on Wednesday. Ali, who represents the Amroha constituency in Uttar Pradesh, made this switch following his suspension from BSP due to alleged anti-party activities.
Ali’s move to join Congress was preceded by his participation in Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Manipur.Addressing an event in Thoubal during the yatra, Ali emphasized his duty as a politician to engage in what he referred to as the “biggest drive for unity and justice.”
Lok Sabha MP Danish Ali also took part in the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra within his parliamentary constituency of Amroha in Uttar Pradesh.
The BSP’s decision to suspend Ali came as a response to his actions against the party’s interests. Reacting to his suspension, Ali expressed regret over the decision by the party leader for the decision to expel him from BSP.
Ali was associated with Deve Gowda’s Janata Dal(S) until 2018. He played an active role in the Karnataka elections in 2018, where BSP contested in alliance with Deve Gowda’s party. On Gowda’s recommendation, Ali was fielded as a candidate from the Amroha constituency by the Bahujan Samaj Party.
