Stray bullet kills retired Indian soldier | India News

Retired Indian soldier Albert Augustine, 48, from Alakode near Kannur in Kerala was killed by a stray bullet during a gunfight Saturday evening amid the clashes in Khartoum, reports K R Rajeev.
Albert had served in the Indian military for 19 years and was working as a security manager of DAL Group of Companies in Sudan the past seven months.
Albert’s family said he was hit by a bullet while standing near the window of their third-floor apartment and speaking over the phone to his eldest son. His wife and daughter were with him.
The Indian embassy there had advised Indians to stay indoors. There are close to 4,000 Indians in Sudan. Foreign minister S Jaishankar condoled the death and said the situation in Khartoum was one of great concern.
