According to a news report, Karan Johar is adapting his Student of the Year film franchise into a web series. The third installment, Student of the Year 3 (SOTY 3), will also feature the OTT debut of Shanaya Kapoor. Shanaya Kapoor’s film debut will not be Karan Johar’s Bedhadak; instead, she will be launched with Mohanlal’s pan-India film Vrushabha. Shanaya has previously worked as an assistant director on Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl, starring cousin Janhvi Kapoor. Her transition into acting, on the other hand, has been discussed in recent years
According to a report, Karan Johar is adapting the Student of the Year film franchise into a web series in collaboration with an OTT. The project is currently in the writing stage and is expected to begin construction in the fourth quarter of this year, according to the report. Along with Shanaya, the show is expected to introduce some new faces, and casting is reportedly underway. More information about the plot of the show is awaited, but according to the sources cited in the report, work on this series is in full swing at Dharma’s digital content arm, Dharmatic Entertainment. The series’ director is expected to be chosen within a month.
Shanaya’s Bollywood debut has been rumoured for the past two years. Initially, the star child was supposed to make her acting debut in Karan Johar’s Bedhadak, alongside Lakshya Lalwani and Gurfateh Pirzada. The Shashank Khaitan-directed film, however, was reportedly shelved due to script issues. Shanaya will make her acting debut in veteran Malayalam actor Mohanlal’s upcoming film Vrushabha.
Karan Johar’s high-school drama, Student of the Year, debuted Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, and Sidharth Malhotra in 2012. (SOTY). Seven years later, with Student of the Year 2, the film was turned into a franchise (SOTY 2).
