The meteoric success of ‘Pathaan’ ensured that the makers laughed all the way to the bank. The film has earned over 500 crore at the domestic box office and at the global level, ‘Pathaan’ raked in Rs 1050.3 crore.

Interestingly, Shah Rukh Khan didn’t charge any fees for the movie and yet took home a lion’s share from the earnings. The actor reportedly had a deal of 60 per cent profit sharing as his remuneration for the movie. According to the news portal, since ‘Pathaan’ was made on a budget of Rs 270 crore and the makers earned a total profit of Rs 333 crore, SRK was given approximately Rs 200 crore as his share. The movie reportedly earned Rs Rs 545 crores in India and Rs 396.02 cr overseas, from which the Indian distributors were given Rs 245 cr, and the overseas distributors took Rs 178 cr. ‘Pathaan’ fetched Rs 150 crore from its satellite and digital rights sale and earned Rs 30 crore from music rights and subsidies.

Before ‘Pathaan’, SRK had delivered a big flop like ‘Zero’ in 2018. Post the success of ‘Pathaan’, SRK had shared, “The four years that I had… Covid had good and bad parts. I didn’t work. I was with my children. I saw them grow up. My last film had not worked and people had said my movies now won’t work. So, I thought of an alternate career: cooking Italian. In these four days, I’ve forgotten my last four year.”
