PM Modi’s silence on Manipur is ‘shockingly bizarre’: Congress | India News

[ad_1]

NEW DELHI: Noting that PM Narendra Modi will visit four states in the coming two days for election meetings, Congress on Thursday said the BJP mascot has time for politics and speeches, but cannot speak on Manipur which is disturbed for over 65 days now.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi tweeted a video of his visit to Manipur and meeting with the displaced residents in the relief camps in the northeastern state. “I know the pain of losing a loved one because of hatred. Where there is violence, that society or country can never progress. Quit Hate, Unite Manipur,” Rahul said.
AICC spokesman Jairam Ramesh said, “The Prime Minister is visiting Chhattisgarh and Uttar Pradesh tomorrow (Friday). Day after, he will be in Telangana and Rajasthan. More photo-ops. More distorted facts. More insults aimed at the Opposition. More self-glorification. But not a word on Manipur even after 66 days.”
The leader further added, “Not an iota of expression of pain, grief and anguish. No appeal for peace, harmony and reconciliation. His behaviour on Manipur is shockingly bizarre.”
