NEW DELHI: Even as there is suspense about Rahul Gandhi’s status as a member of Lok Sabha, BJP has switched into the attack mode, saying that Congress leader’s remarks marked an insult to the OBC Teli community. Several leaders belonging to the Teli community sought Rahul’s apology threatening to launch a countrywide campaign against his “casteist” mindset.
“This is an insult to the OBCs in general and the community will show Gandhi his place,” Maharashtra BJP president Chandrashekhar Bawankule told reporters in Mumbai.
Former Jharkhand CM Raghubar Das accused Gandhi of crossing all limits of decency. “The fact that Gandhi has opted for bail shows that he has accepted his guilt”, Das told reporters in Jharkhand. All India Teli Mahasangh’s Ram Kumar said that Gandhi has resorted to “abusing” others after Congress lost power and that people will teach him a lesson.
