NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Nadendra Modi is likely to hand over nearly 71,000 appointment letters virtually next week. The event is scheduled on April 13 and the appointment letters will be distributed to the new recruits at 45 places across states, barring Karnataka where the model code of conduct is in force.
Sources said a large chunk of the appointment letters will be from railway (50,000), followed by posts (6,000) and financial services department and defence ministry. TOI has learnt that most of the new recruits in the railways will be for Group-C services and these include gangman and pointsman. Appointment letters to new commercial clerks will also be handed over.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has chaired the Rozgar Melas so far and these are part of the government’s announcement to give 10 lakh jobs before the next Lok Sabha election in 2024.
Recently, the railway ministry had informed the Lok Sabha that there are 3.15 lakh vacancies and most of them are in Group-C services. In a written reply to a question, it had also informed the Lower House that it targetted to complete the recruitment of around 38,000 persons for Group C services by end of March 2023
