NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday listed out a number of instructions for ministers ahead of the G20 Summit to be held later this week.
At a meeting of the Union council of ministers, the Prime Minister emphasised on how important the two-day event is for India and its global image. He urged the ministers to avoid their official vehicles and use the shuttle service instead to reach the Bharat Mandapam and other venues of various meetings.
The prime minister also asked them to download the G20 India mobile app and make the best use of its translation, and navigation facilities among other features while communicating with the foreign dignitaries during the summit.
PM Modi has asked all the ministers to reach the venue on time to ensure that the foreign officials do not face any inconvenience.
The central government has decided to provide hands-on experiences to around 1,000 visiting foreign delegates with UPI wallets technology, besides explaining them about ease of making payments through the indigenous solution.
Foreign secretary Vinay Mohan Kwatra briefed the ministers in detail about the protocol and related matters.
India is all set to host the G20 Summit in New Delhi on September 9-10.
World leaders will arrive in New Delhi to attend the G20 Summit. The summit will be hosted at the state-of-the-art Bharat Mandapam Convention Centre at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.
Notably, India assumed the G20 presidency on December 1 last year and about 200 meetings related to G20 were organized in 60 cities across the country.
