Patole move to quit as speaker was rash, says Uddhav’s Sena | India News

MUMBAI: Amid the ongoing tussle between state Congress president Nana Patole and former Congress minister Balasaheb Thorat, the Shiv Sena (UBT) on Thursday hit out at Patole saying it is a fact that the well-run MVA government came into a permanent crisis because of his decision to quit as Speaker of the Maharashtra assembly in 2021.
Describing Patole’s decision as rash and immature, the Shiv Sena (UBT), in an editorial in the party’s mouthpiece Saamna, said: “The post of assembly Speaker is important in a coalition government. If he had continued to be Speaker, many further embarrassments could have been avoided and it would have been easy to disqualify defectors on the spot.”
“After Patole’s resignation, the governor did not allow the election of the Speaker of the legislative assembly to take place, and this benefited the ‘khokebaz’ (moneybags) MLAs and their ‘Mahashakti’ (superpower) in Delhi,” it added.
“At that time, the decision to resign from the post of Speaker of the legislative assembly was rash and immature. We have to accept the fact that the well-run government of Maharashtra came into a permanent crisis because of his decision,” the editorial stated.
