NIA launches investigation into Israel Embassy ‘blast’ call case | India News

NEW DELHI: A day after Delhi Police received a call about a bomb blast near the Israel Embassy in the national Capital, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has launched an investigate into the incident.
An NIA team, along with the Delhi Special Cell and Dog Squad, reached the Israeli Embassy on Wednesday.
The Delhi police zeroed in on two ‘suspects’ after examining the CCTV footage of the area.There was no words on the involvement of the duo in the case. Sources, however, said the ‘suspects’ were roaming near the Israel embassy on Tuesday evening.”Two persons are seen roaming in the area in CCTV footage. Their role in the ‘blast’ call incident is not yet clear. We are trying to ascertain their identity and what were they doing in the area at the time of the call. Things will become clear only after their questioning,” they said.

Now the police are examining CCTV footage of nearby areas to find out as to how the suspects reached there.

Delhi police found a letter addressed to the Israeli ambassador near the Israel Embassy on Tuesday evening in connection with the ‘blast’ call. “A letter has been written in English to the Israeli Embassy in which threatening words are used. The group whose name is written on the letter is Sir Allah Resistance,” said sources.

Police are currently examining the letter and are yet to reveal details.
Guy Nir, spokesperson of the Israeli embassy, confirmed that a loud blast was heard in the vicinity around 5pm. “Yes, there was an incident. We are not sure what it is exactly yet … the police and our security team are investigating the matter,” Nir told reporters.
The Israeli foreign ministry said no embassy staff was hurt in the incident and that Indian and Israeli agencies are cooperating to probe the matter.
“All our diplomats and workers are safe. Our security teams are working in full cooperation with local Delhi security,” said deputy chief of mission Ohad Nakash Kaynar.
