NEW DELHI: Expelled Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra has been served notice to vacate her government bungalow following her suspension over a cash-for-query case, several TV news channels reported.
Mahua was expelled as the Lower House MP on December 8 after an ethics panel tabled a report that held her guilty of “unethical conduct” in the cash-for-query row.Her petition, which runs into over 15 pages, was filed online.
The development comes a day after Mahua moved the Supreme Court against her expulsion.
According to sources, Moitra had been consulting lawyers for some time.
CM Mamata Banerjee had on Friday alleged procedural lapses and said not allowing Mahua to defend herself was a violation of natural justice.
MP Kalyan Banerjee, who had spoken in Moitra’s defence in LS, said: “The matter is sub judice now. I have nothing to say.”
On Friday, Banerjee had said not questioning Darshan Hiranandani, Nishikant Dubey or Jai Anant Dehadrai before taking action was a violation of Article 14. Moitra had said the ethics committee had broken every rule.
