NEW DELHI: A group of volunteers have created a special micro-site dedicated to PM Narendra Modi’s mother Heeraba, showcasing a collection of videos related to her life.
These videos provide a glimpse of the humble lifestyle and simplicity with which she lived, despite being the mother of a three-time CM and a twotime PM. The microsite opens on the personal website of PM Modi and also his app.
“Before he went on to dedicate his life to the nation, Heeraba instilled in PM Modi the values of nationalism and ‘Seva’. . . In these videos, an important figure is revealed, a figure who contributed to the character formation of the current Indian PM — his mother, Heeraba,” one of the volunteers, involved in creating the micro-site, said.
The microsite opens with a video of montages and special moments between PM Modi and his mother. Taking one on a journey through Heeraba’s life, the video shows how her small actions impacted an impressionable young Modi. According to the site, throughout his childhood, Modi’s mother served others and put their needs above everything else, a teaching that left a mark on him.
The site suuggests that Modi’s connection to spirituality can be traced to his childhood when he observed his mother chanting prayers. Also included in the video are excerpts from a never-before-seen interview with Heeraba. She describes how she initiated a fiveyear-old Modi into ‘desh seva’.
