NEW DELHI: Congress leader Sonia Gandhi on Wednesday issued an appeal for peace to the people of Manipur, and urged the women to lead the way in restoring normalcy.
Stating that unprecedented violence over 50 days has left “a deep wound in the conscience of our nation”, Sonia said, “It takes tremendous trust and goodwill to nurture the spirit of brotherhood, and a single misstep to fan the flames of hate and divisiveness. ”
In a video statement, she called the present situation as “vital crossroads” and said, “I appeal to the people of Manipur, especially my brave sisters, to lead the way in bringing peace and harmony to this beautiful land. ”
