Mallikarjun Kharge criticises editing of his speech | India News

NEW DELHI: Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Friday said that expunging remarks about Adani “scam” will not stop the questions raised by public, even as he accused PM Narendra Modi of using Parliament like a “washing machine” to wash away the taint of his friends.
He asked how could raising issues about Adani row and the decisions of national banks and the LIC to invest in the firm’s stocks, the rout on bourses, as also the absence of regulatory and investigative action be considered unparliamentary.
Slamming the decision of the Rajya Sabha Chair to expunge his remarks on the issue, Kharge said Congress will continue to raise the “scam” in Parliament and outside. “Expunging the remarks from Parliament records doesn’t clear the questions and allegations made by public,” he told a press conference. “Modi ji is now using our Parliament like a washing machine to wash the scams of his friend,” he tweeted.
The Leader of Opposition in the RS said the deletion of remarks made by him and Rahul Gandhi about the Adani issue raises fears of autocracy, arguing the opposition is dutybound to highlight in Parliament issues of national concern in public interest.
“I was leader of the party in the Lok Sabha for five years and was leader and deputy leader in Karnataka assembly for 14 years, and not one word said by me has been expunged in the two legislatures,” Kharge said.
