NEW DELHI: The Commission (EC) announced that the voting in Chhattisgarh will take place from April 19 to May 7 in three phases for the 18th Lok Sabha election 2024.
Schedule
In Chhattisgarh, the election will take place on April 19, April 26, and May 7 which is phase 1, phase 2, and phase 3. The results for the Lok Sabha will be announced on June 4.

What happened in 2014 and 2019
In the past two Lok Sabha elections, BJP proved to be having a strong hand in the Chhattisgarh state.In 2014,BJP won 10 out of the 11 seats while Congress has to satisfy with one seat. In 2019, few voters seems to be not happy with the elected member but couldn’t really had a great impact on result as BJP won 9 and Congress improved its status by 1 more means party won 2 seats.
Key candidates that voters need to look for
Chhattisgarh, which recently witnessed a power change from the Congress to BJP after the assembly election, will see which party is going to conquer this time in Lok Sabha election. BJP released the names of candidates for all the 11 seats and had fielded Brijmohan Agarwal from Raipur and Mahesh Kashyap from Bastar. This time, BJP also fielded three women candidates for the Lok Sabha election.
Meanwhile, Congress has also released the list and has selected former chief minister Bhupesh Baghel from Rajnandgaon Tamradhwaj Sahu for Mahasamund, Rajendra Sahu for Durgand named sitting MLA Kawasi Lakhma for Naxal-affected Bastar (ST) seat, which will go to polls in the first phase on April 19.

Other than these national parties, the regional outfit Gondwana Gantantra Party (GGP), also released its first list of candidates for 10 of the 11 Lok Sabha seats in the state. The party have a little influence in Chhattisgarh as it had not won any seat in the past elections.
As per the list, Dr LS Uday has been fielded from Surguja (ST) seat, Madan Gond from Raigarh (ST), Manharan Lal Bhardwaj from Janjgir-Champa (Scheduled Caste reserved), Shyam Singh Markam from Korba, Nandkishore Raj from Bilaspur, Naresh Kumar Motghare from Rajnandgaon, Manharan Singh Thakur from Durg, Lalbahadur Yadav from Raipur, Mohd Fareed Kureshi from Mahasamund and Tikam Nagvanshi from Bastar (ST).
BSP, which had tied up with GGP in the assembly election, had also released the list and announced two candidates for the Janjgir-Champa and Naxal-hit Bastar constituencies.
Main political parties in Chhattisgarh
The main political parties in Chhattisgarh state are BJP and Congress. In the past 2 elections, none of the regional parties got any seat in the state.
