Jammu medical college fury over The Kerala Story | India News

JAMMU: A clash broke out between two groups, allegedly over film The Kerala Story, in the Government Medical College’s (GMC) boys’ hostel here late Sunday night, leaving five students injured.
Both sides protested Monday at the college demanding an inquiry and action against the culprits. Some boycotted classes.
The protesters said the scuffle took place after a student shared a link of the controversial film in the official group of first-year students. One of his batch-mates objected, saying the group was meant for academic purposes only.
The one who objected was later confronted and assaulted inside the hostel, leading to the scuffle as more and more students, along with some outsiders, joined the ruckus.
GMC principal Dr Shashi Sharma called a meeting with the cops and an FIR was lodged against some students for “provocation and creating disturbance” in the hostel. Jammu SSP Chandan Kohli said an inquiry was on.
Former CMs Mehbooba Mufti and Omar Abdullah blamed the Centre. Mehbooba tweeted: “Shocking that GOI promotes & encourages violence through movies stoking communal fires.” Omar posted: “Very distressing images of gunda elements targeting Kashmiri students in Jammu.”
