IISc hosts 2-day I-STEM conclave for women researchers | India News

BENGALURU: The India Science, Technology and Engineering facilities Map (I-STEM) organised the Tech Management Conclave 2023 beginning Tuesday at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) here for scientifically inclined women researchers across India.
The participants at the two-day conference — more than 150 — will discuss how to leverage initiatives for researchers through I-STEM, a national programme led by the Principal Scientific Advisor’s (PSA) office in consultation with the department of science and technology (DST).
“The theme of the I-STEM initiative is linking researchers and resources. The conclave has participation from premier institutions to the underprivileged institutions including from tier two and three cities as well as startups,” a statement read, adding that it was inaugurated by IISc’s interdisciplinary science dean, Prof Navakant Bhat.
Prof Sanjeev Shrivastava from IISc’s centre for nano science and engineering and the national co-ordinator for I-STEM, said the conclave will discuss challenges in operation and maintenance of hi-end equipment.
“…Aside from that it will discuss skilled manpower needed for smooth running of such R&D infrastructure, usage rate for different category of users to optimise the cost of the research and reduce the duplication of expansive equipment, redundancy in and provide ease of access of such resources in democratic manner,” Shrivastava said.
More than 150 women researchers are participating at the conclave where they will share their ideas at a single platform developed by the I-STEM.
A similar conclave for all kinds of researchers was organised on January 19 and 20, which had seen more than 60 institutions participate. and shared their ideas.
