HC junks review plea on CJI DY Chandrachud’s appointment | India News

NEW DELHI: The Delhi HC on Monday rejected a plea seeking a review of the dismissal of a PIL that had challenged the appointment of DY Chandrachud as the Chief Justice of India.
“The petitioner is not able to show any error apparent on face of record. There are no grounds to interfere with the impugned order passed on November 30, 2022. The petition is accordingly dismissed,” a division bench of Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva and Justice Vikas Mahajan observed. The judges also remarked that the plea – filed by one Sanjeev Kumar Tiwari – was an appeal “disguised as review” and it did not fall “within the four corners of a review”.
Last week, a bench led by Delhi HC chief justice Satish Chandra Sharma had recused itself from hearing the petition.
