NEW DELHI: The upcoming Noida International Airport’s (NIA) IATA code will be DXN. The government has mega plans for this second NCR airport as Delhi’s IGIA will peak out on terms of passenger handling capacity by the end of this decade when it will be handling 11 crore flyers annually. Incidentally, the mega busy Dubai International Airport’s code is DXB and with DXN as its code, NIA has set its eyes on being Noida’s very own Dubai.
Passenger flights will begin from the upcoming airport by the end of next year. “The code, which will become active once airport operations start, will help travellers and aviation professionals to identify and communicate destinations swiftly and accurately avoiding any confusion and mistakes,” NIA said in a statement.
NIA CEO Christoph Schnellmann said: “As one of the world’s largest urban agglomerations, India’s National Capital Region deserves a second airport. Noida International Airport will make this long-standing dream a reality and we are excited to receive our three-letter IATA code, which is a significant milestone towards the airport’s operationalisation. We are looking forward to welcoming passengers, customers, and partners at the region’s new economic and cultural hub.”
