Dunki: Shah Rukh Khan starrer crosses the $100,000 mark in advance sales for day 1 in USA | Hindi Movie News

Coming off the triumphs of Pathaan and Jawan, Shah Rukh Khan prepares for his third 2023 release, Dunki, in partnership with director Rajkumar Hirani. Renowned for iconic films like the Munnabhai series, 3 Idiots ,PK, and Sanju, Hirani’s maiden collaboration with SRK is scheduled for an Indian theatre premiere on December 22, preceded by the US release on December 21.

The initial advance ticket sales for Dunki in the US faced challenges, however, after the recent trailer release and a new song launch, there was a significant surge, leading to the film crossing the $100,000 mark.Presently, Dunki is selling tickets across approximately 404 locations, for 1131 shows and has already sold about 8510 tickets, taking the collection of the film to $116674 (Rs 97 Lakhs). With less than 10 days to go, the tickets will get sold at a better frequency, it is expected.
Initially planned as a solo release, Dunki faces competition as Prashanth Neel and Prabhas scheduled Salaar: Part One- Ceasefire releases the same day. Post-production issues led to the delay of Salaar from its original September 28 date. With advance booking for both movies starting in the next few days, it would be interesting to see how the audience is reacting to both the films.
Besides Shah Rukh Khan, Dunki also stars Taapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal and Boman Irani in the lead, while Salaar features Prithviraj, Tinnu Anand and Shruti Haasan alongside Prabhas.
