Drone-dropped box containing weapons recovered near LoC in Jammu | India News

JAMMU: Security forces Thursday recovered arms and ammunition from a box suspected to have been dropped by a drone in Khour area of Akhnoor on the outskirts of Jammu.
The suspicious box was recovered during a joint search operation launched by police and Army in Palanwallah area near the Line of Control early morning.
“On opening the box, one IED fitted with batteries, one pistol, two pistol magazines, 38 rounds of ammunition and nine grenades were recovered,” said a police officer.
An FIR under relevant legal provisions was registered and the investigation had been started, police said.
On Tuesday, the NIA had arrested Zakir Hussain (22), a resident of Jammu’s Kathua district, in a Pakistan-backed terrorism case involving the delivery of weapons through drones to terrorists in J&K.
Zakir is the eighth accused to be arrested in the case related to recovery of several rounds of Under Barrel Grenade Launcher, along with magnetic bombs, near Dhalli area in Kathua.
The case was registered on May 29 last year and the NIA filed a chargesheet against six persons on January 13. One of the seven accused arrested earlier had died due to cardiac arrest while in judicial custody in August 2022, while two Pakistan-based terror operatives are absconding.”
