NEW DELHI: The ruling party of Tamil Nadu, DMK on Wednesday filed a complaint with Election Commission of India over Union minister Shobha Karandlaje‘s recent remark alleging that “people of Tamil Nadu were behind the Rameshwaram cafe blast , which took place in Bengaluru on March 1.”

Addressing a protest in connection with the recent attacks on a mobile shop owner in Bengaluru, union minister Shobha Karandlaje said, ” People from Tamil Nadu come here, get trained and plant bombs here. They placed a bomb in the cafe.”
Meanwhile, CM Stalin reacting to the BJP leader’s remarks, called it a “reckless statement” and said that such assertions could only be made by someone with direct involvement or detailed knowledge of the ongoing investigation into the Rameshwaram cafe blast.
““One must either be an NIA official or closely linked to the #RameshwaramCafeBlast to make such claims. Clearly, she (Shobha) lacks the authority for such assertions.”
Stalin said from PM to cadres, everyone in BJP should stop engaging in dirty divisive politics.
“ECI must take note of this hatespeech and initiate stringent action immediately,” Stalin said.
Dubbing Shobha’s comments as venomous, Udhayanidhi wondered, “How the BJP minister arrived at such an outrageous claim when NIA is still investigating the Rameshwaram cafe blast case.”
