BHOPAL/JABALPUR: The Congress office in Jabalpur city was vandalised by alleged Bajrang Dal activists on Thursday to protest the Karnataka Congress manifesto promise to ban the right-wing outfit along with PFI if it wins the assembly election in the southern state. A group of protesters kicked open the Congress office gates, barged in and tore posters of senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi.
The Congress condemned the attack and handed over video footage of the incident to the police, seeking registration of a case. PCC chief Kamal Nath demanded strict action against the vandals and said: “Have the government and BJP given up all democratic methods and made up their mind to launch a direct attack on the Congress party?”
Bajrang Dal office-bearer Sumit Thakur, however, accused the Congress workers of vandalism and ruckus, and said that “Congress workers in saffron costumes” entered the office and started the chaos when Bajrang Dal workers went there to protest. Police have been deployed outside the Congress party office. Officers said that the accused are being identified through video footage.
