With her stunning looks, flawless fashions and inimitable style, Krystal Versace proved that she had the charisma, uniqueness, nerve and talent to take the crown on season three of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK.
The youngest ever Drag Race winner, Krystal is back with a new series from World of Wonder, Keeping Up with Krystal Versace.
The 6-episode series takes us behind the scenes as Krystal prepares for her solo show with her drag family made up of UK legends. Along with Krystal, the show features her drag family, La Belle, DeDeLicious, Bones, Dosa Cat and Imani Versace. As Krystal manages a hectic tour and her evolving brand, creating “The Next World” tour with her standard for perfection may be too much for her and her family to handle! All six episodes will premiere on June 30 exclusively on WOW Presents Plus.
We had the chance to chat with Krystal about her new series, her life since Drag Race UK and her influences in our exclusive interview. We also got a chance to put her in the hot seat for the Socialite Seven. Get to know this drag sensation from across the pond!

What was it like for you being the youngest winner in Drag Race history?
I mean, it was definitely correct. I didn’t expect it. I never thought of applying to Drag Race before that that I would end up being, um, that, end up being that iconic, really. Um, but, I mean, here we are and you know, I’m doing what I need to do and I’m inspiring the kids and doing my thing.
How did you get your start in drag?
I got my start in drag through makeup. Makeup was definitely the core of my drag. And then soon came hair and the whole aesthetic really. Um, and then wanting to be on stage. So yeah, wanting to be a makeup artist, that’s how I found myself through drag. Okay, and how would you describe your look? Um, my look is exquisite. It is hyper feminine. Um, it is, as I said in the work from Sex on Legs, Um, but yeah, it’s literally, to me, it’s the ultimate doll. It’s, um, feminine to the nth degree. It’s, um, a fantasy. Okay.
Keeping Up with Krystal Versace is your winner show. How did you come up with the idea?
So, Wow Presents Plus obviously came to me with a few ideas first, and I wasn’t really having any of it. They were probably sick of me at the start already and I just thought, you know what? It’s about time that people actually get to see what my life is about because I don’t know about anyone else, but I’ve always loved stuff like Keeping Up with the Kardashians and looking at like behind the scenes videos of movies and watching all that. I always wanted to know like deeper into What it takes to create something.
And I thought, you know what, this is my chance to let people have a deeper insight into what it is to create what you see as Crystal Versace. So this is about following me, my creative journey, and following the people that I’m surrounded by, the people that keep me creative, um, my drag family, which is really important to me.
What was it like working so closely in front of a camera with your drag family?
I mean, honestly, it was the best thing. It was such a blessing, um, because, you know, we were just ourselves. We were just doing what we usually do, and we always, we all live, like, very, very close to each other.
We’re all literally on the same street, so we’re already surrounded by each other every week. Um, so it was just that, but a few cameras around, and we got, some of the girls, you know, took a little bit of time to warm up to the cameras, but I mean, I’m a pro at this point, so I was just, You know, taking the reins.
Um, but it was great. It was so much fun. And for some reason, I don’t know what the season was or like what was happening in the air, but geez, it really got some of the worst out of us, but also the best.
I heard you in another interview describe the show as kind of like the Real Housewives to the nth degree. Is that kind of what we’re going to expect on the show?
It very much is that. I’m surrounded by queens all the time. I love that, you know, it’s very queer to love the housewives, so, yeah, it’s gonna be definitely feeding the gays and what they need and what they want, so yeah, it’s very that. It’s very drama but also it’s really not produced. I think the actual producers, when we were filming the whole thing, were kind of a bit surprised because they really didn’t have much input in the whole thing. I just went with it all and it just turned out to be magical.
What have you found to be the biggest challenge in putting together your show?
I think it’s the patience. I think that’s what I mostly find very difficult is having patience with myself, having patience with others, and working together as a team. But not only a team, we see ourselves as family. We’re trying to do this in a high-pressure situation where we didn’t have much time and also trying to make the best out of what we could, which was incredible. But, you know, it’s the pressures and being impatient and having to have patience with others when they don’t quite get it and they take slower than others, you know, it was intense. So, I think that was very difficult to try not to blow up at certain individuals.
What can fans expect when they come see you in a live show?
I mean, I think they know what to expect, but honestly, I just love having fun up there on stage, and I love production, I love when it comes to sound, when it comes to lighting, when it comes to visuals, when it comes to outfits, hair, everything. I know, it needs to look how I envision it from the audience perspective, when they’re sitting in those chairs. So… It’s very important for me to have a certain light, um, correct, the sound, the certain mixes, the songs, to create this mood and this atmosphere where people end up getting goosebumps and come out going, oh my god, like, I really want to do something like that, or I really want to, like, Take, have my take on that because that’s how I started drag. I used to watch the girls and I used to feel the same way and go, Oh my God, like I want to do my version of that, you know?
Who were your influences when you started performing drag?
I mean, my first like queer interaction was drag race because it was very much what was happening at the time and anything I had access to because I wasn’t surrounded by anything else. I was very much looking at the girls. I remember on season 10, there were a lot of girls like Aquaria and Kameron Michaels and before that it was Violet Chachki and all these girls, Raven in season 2, you know, there’s something about each and every one of them that I kind of loved but I wanted to do my own take on it, and there you go, Krystal Versace appeared.
I am obsessed with your makeup videos. What would you want to pass along as your top beauty tip for aspiring queens or biological women that want to improve their looks?
My top makeup tip I would say, is looking straight on in the mirror. A lot of people when they have things like hooded eyes and they’re like, oh, I don’t have the same shaped face as this person, blah, blah. You’ve got to look directly when your face is relaxed and do the makeup because as soon as you start sucking in your cheeks when you’re contouring and raising your eyebrows when you’re trying to fit eyeshadow in there, and when you relax, it’s all just gonna kind of collapse. So you need to just look in the mirror, do your makeup like you would perceive it and that’s kind of my biggest tip.
You’ve been interviewed a lot, and what, what is the oddest question you’ve ever been asked in an interview?
Oh, I don’t know. I’ve asked some weird things. I’ve been asked things about my sexual life, which has nothing to do with anyone else, so that was kind of weird.
Aside from the show, what is next for you?
I’m planning on working with a few brands right now, which will be uncovered, whenever it’s right. I’m still touring, I’m still doing shows, I’m traveling the world doing bigger and better gigs and right now I’m really focusing on makeup. I’m trying to make my way into that realm, which takes its time. I’ve had a great reaction from things like TikTok since I’ve started. So, this is kind of my social media era. I’m really going in with that because even though I’ve been a social media queen for a while, I’ve never really honed in on it, so this is like, giving the kids what they want, serving looks, getting better and better every time and entertaining everybody.
Speaking of social media and giving kids what they want, there’s been a lot of talk about having an all-winner season of Drag Race. Would you be interested in participating in something like that?
I’ve been asked that (obviously) a lot. I would be interested but it would have to come at the right time. I don’t feel like if I got the call tomorrow I would accept it. I’m just not really bothered, I’m kind of within my own artistry right now and I want to be known as Krystal Versace instead of Krystal Versace from season whatever whatever, you know. So, at the moment I’m just harnessing my artistry and just thriving within that and just expanding what I could do as an artist. So, I want to do that for now. That’s it really. We’ll see.
Krystal Versace Answers the Socialite Seven
Who has had the biggest influence on you?
Um, well, I mean, technically it must be Ru, right? Because I wouldn’t be doing any of this or making any money from dressing up as a woman if it weren’t for her. So I guess, uh, I’m a mother. I wouldn’t be here without my mother. Okay.
Who would your fans be surprised to find out that you’re a fan of?
I’m trying to think. I can’t think of who. But I mean if there’s like something I’m really interested and love doing that people wouldn’t expect I’m like a massive foodie and I love cooking, and specifically seafood. So I can’t think of anyone in particular, but that’s something that people wouldn’t expect, I guess.
What talent or superpower would you like to wake up with in the morning that you don’t already possess?
Um, God, I really don’t know. I honestly don’t know. I can’t think of anything. I think that’s a hard one.
What are three things that you can’t live without?
Wigs, skincare, and nice food.
If they made a movie of your life, who would you want to play you?
Ooh, oh my God, um,I can’t think of that one.
You can say yourself, a lot of people do.
I mean, yeah, it would be myself.
What do you feel is your greatest accomplishment so far?
I think one of my greatest accomplishments…I mean, I live in a really nice place in London, which is a big accomplishment for me. I’m a homebody, so I like to be at home. I like to thrive in my home, and I’m proud of myself for that, and achieving that. And, I guess Drag Race, like obviously winning, and then at this moment I’m really excited for the series, you know.
What’s the best piece of advice that you’ve been given?
Ooh, I’d say I remember being told by a queen when I was about to go on Drag Race and she just was basically emphasizing the fact to stop looking over your shoulder. Don’t look at what anyone else is doing and just focus on you and be yourself. Just go in there and… just relax and don’t play up to the cameras, just be yourself. I think that is kind of true because there’s a lot of things that have happened since Drag Race, unexpected things that have come out, like, small actions or stuff that I’ve said, that’s just from me being myself, so I’ve always done that. I’ve always been very real, been very honest and transparent and it’s got me really far.
