Birthday Special: 10 Most-Talked Cameos of Salman Khan To Revisit On His Birthday

Salman Khan celebrates his 58th birthday today and is surrounded by his loved ones, as the viral pictures on social media give ample proof. The superstar has an extensive fan following and having his body of work spread across decades in the industry, the variety has been immense. While his most memorable roles are often talked about from Maine Pyar Kiya to Karan Arjun to in recent times blockbusters like Bajrangi Bhaijaan and the Tiger franchise to name a few, one often forgets some of his most talked-about cameos that left a lasting impression.

Most times, he has stolen the limelight in such short but impactful roles, be it the perfect life partner as Aman Mehra in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai or the dutiful son Ravi Chopra in Baghban. His iconic entry as himself in Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani starring Ranbir Kapoor and his ex-girlfriend Katrina Kaif was the talk of the town upon its release.

On his birthday, here’s a look at some of his cameos that created a buzz amongst the audience:

Dushman Duniya Ka (1996)

Not many people might be aware of the fact that this was one of the first cameos that Salman Khan did along with Shah Rukh Khan. He played himself in the film, which was helmed by the incredible Mehmood. Other cast members included Manzoor Ali, Jeetendra and Sumalatha. Shah Rukh Khan was seen essaying the role of his friend. It was just a 5-minute role, however, people do remember him being a small part of the film with his cameo.

Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998)

Salman Khan as Aman Mehra in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai was the quintessential dream guy. He was sweet, charming and ever-loving to Anjali, his fiance played by Kajol. Though his heart was broken in the end, he went on to win a Filmfare Award for his supporting act and to date is remembered every time the film is spoken about or quite recently when it celebrated its 25th Anniversary. The other star cast members included Shah Rukh Khan and Rani Mukerji and the film was helmed by Karan Johar.

Dhai Akshar Prem Ke (2000)

Helmed by Raj Kanwar, the film featured Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the lead. The film was released in just a year’s gap after Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam where Salman was seen alongside Aishwarya. Salman essayed the role of a truck driver in his cameo role in the film.

Baghban (2003)

Baghban became a guide on the complex relationship between parents and their children. A multi-starrer with Amitabh Bachchan and Hema Malini in the lead and helmed by Ravi Chopra. Salman Khan played the role of Alok who was Raj (Amitabh Bachchan) and Pooja Malhotra’s (Hema Malini) adopted son. Salman was the perfect son who was filled with gratitude towards those who had adopted him and provided him with food, shelter and education and loved him like their own. Mahima Chaudhry too had a cameo in it and played Salman’s love interest.

Saawariya (2007)

Directed by ace filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Saawariya marked Sonam Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor’s debut in the film industry. Salman Khan played the role of Imaan, Sakina’s (Sonam Kapoor) love interest. The story unravels as how he comes to rent a room in Sakina’s house who lives with her grandmother and she eventually falls in love with him. Fans were pleasantly surprised to see him in his cameo and it sure made an impact for the newcomers.

Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani (2009)

Salman Khan played himself yet again as the superstar that he is in this comedy film Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani. It had Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif in the lead and was a hilarious ride indeed. His short scene saw him walk in to be crowded by an ocean of fans yelling his name. Katrina too acted as a die-hard fan of his and Ranbir Kapoor’s character introduced the two, pretending to be a friend of Salman’s to impress Jenny (Katrina Kaif) whom he was in love with.

Tees Maar Khan (2010)

Here Salman Khan was seen shaking a leg with the lead cast of Tees Maar Khan, Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif. He was seen in the song Wallah Re Wallah, a qawwali song that had the audience see him groove too. Compared to the other cameos this might seem like a miss, but was a huge craze back then.

Judwaa 2 (2017)

Salman Khan, the OG Judwaa star made a double appearance in Judwaa 2. He was seen in his original characters as Raja and Prem who make an appearance to meet the dual characters of Varun Dhawan who was the lead in Judwaa 2. Helmed by David Dhawan yet again, Salman’s dual cameo appearances got the audiences cheering for him like no other!

Zero (2018)

Salman Khan’s cameo in Zero directed by Aanand L. Rai created a stir as always as it was with Shah Rukh Khan. He appeared in the song Ishqbaaz and was seen with Shah Rukh’s dwarf avatar in the film. Their onscreen bond in that limited time had gone viral and Shah Rukh has expressed gratitude to him several times for the same.

Pathaan (2023)

With YRF’s spy verse becoming the talk of town with each release, Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan coming together on the big screen after so long was the perfect start to 2023 for cinema lovers. Salman Khan was seen as the spy Tiger in Pathaan who made a solid entry in the film to help his friend. The end credits had both the Khans talk about how they are the last of the stars and requesting Pathaan a.k.a Shah Rukh Khan to join him on his next mission. Interestingly, as soon as Tiger 3 was released on Diwali we saw a cameo of Shah Rukh join him in his world in the third instalment of the film.
