Ayesha Jhulka, who was last seen in the series ‘Happy Family, Conditions Apply’, along with Ratna Pathak Shah, Raj Babbar, Atul Kulkarni and others, tells ETimes that one never stops learning in the film industry. Ayesha feels an actor is never too old to learn new tricks and she also believes there’s something new to learn from senior actors, every time one works with them. The ‘Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander’ star also reveals why she never took on bold roles and how much she values her friendship with Farah Khan.
“It is always a great experience working with senior stars and people who have done a good job for years in the industry. All these people, namely Ratna Pathak Shah and Raj Babbar ji, are veterans. So it was a great experience working with them, and we had a very good rapport both on and offscreen. It was an incredible experience working with all the senior actors,” shares Ayesha when asked about her experience working on ‘Happy Family, Conditions Apply’.

Ayesha also feels that working with a veteran is fruitful and an actor gets to learn more about the craft. “I think every minute is a learning experience while working with a senior actor. It depends on how closely one can observe all the little things about them. The way they get into the skin of their characters can be observed while watching them perform. The process is really interesting. Not just learning, while working with a veteran, one can experience a totally different vibe. In my first film, I worked with Sunil Dutt ji, Kabir Bedi and so many other people, including Raj Babbar ji, Dharmendra ji, Hema Malini ji. I have always learned something or the other from them. By just observing these seniors, an actor gets to know their way of working, professionalism and dedication towards work. So one tends to learn good things, for which he or she has to be observant. Veterans are way ahead in what they have done. We have come a long way, too and I’m sure the people who have just joined the industry or who have just started afresh must also be feeling the same about us. I think that is the cycle of the film industry. Every new actor keeps learning from their seniors,” affirms Ayesha.
On her friendship with Farah Khan, Ayesha says, “We have been in touch on and off. In the industry, everybody is busy, but certain people are special. We started our careers together, and the people with whom we tend to work in the initial days always have a special place in our hearts. Farah has not changed a bit. She is still as warm and friendly as she was. So it’s always a pleasure meeting and connecting with her whenever possible.”

Ayesha has never played a bold character on screen. While her roles have been progressive, they’ve never been indecent. She says, “For an actor, every character is important, and it’s always a pleasure to play different kinds of characters. I think anything that excites one as an actor is always a pleasure to perform. I always have my parameters set from day one. People also know that certain things will suit me while others will not. Also, I’ve only been offered roles that people knew I’d be comfortable doing.”
