Army makes key change in Agniveer recruitment process: All you need to know | India News

[ad_1]

NEW DELHI: Candidates wanting to join the Army as Agniveers will now have to first appear for an online common entrance examination (CEE), followed by physical fitness and medical tests.
Earlier, the Agniveer recruitment process involved candidates undergoing a physical fitness test, followed by medical tests, and then finally appearing for a written CEE. But, now, the online CEE has been made the first step.
Announcing the change in the recruitment process, the Army said “the changed methodology will ensure an increased focus on the cognitive aspect during selection”.
Advertisements regarding the change in the process have been put out by the Army in various newspapers, titled ‘Transformational Changes in Recruitment in Indian Army’. The notification for the change in process is expected to be issued around mid-February.

The first online CEE is slated to be held in April at nearly 200 locations across the country. “Online applications for registration will be open from mid-February for a period of one month,” said Army officials.
The new three-step methodology for the recruitment process is as follows:

  • The first step will be the online CEE for all candidates at nominated centres.
  • This will be followed by physical fitness test for CEE-qualified candidates during recruitment rallies
  • The final step will be a medical test.

The earlier procedure involved huge administrative costs with lakhs of candidates lining up at more than 200 screening centers across the country. The change in the selection process will reduce the costs involved in organising recruitment rallies for physical and medical tests.
It will help ease the administrative and logistical burden as only the candidates who qualified the entrance exam will take the physical and medical tests.
“The new requirement will have wider outreach across the country and also reduce the large crowds seen during recruitment rallies to make them more manageable and easier to conduct,” the officials said.
The new process will apply to about 40,000 candidates who are willing to join the Army from the next recruitment cycle of 2023-24.
