Ranbir Kapoor and Anil Kapoor were seen as father and son in the recently released ‘Animal’. However, did you know they were meant to play father and son, much early on, in Zoya Akhtar’s “Dil Dhadakne Do‘. Initially, Ranbir and Kareena Kapoor Khan were cast to play brother and sister in the movie but things did not work out. Later, Ranveer Singh and Priyanka Chopra were roped in for the parts.
But recently, Anil Kapoor had admitted that he had said yes earlier because Ranbir was there in the film. Ahead of the release of Animal on OTT, Ranbir along with Anil and Bobby Deol shot for a video for the streaming platform. During this conversation, Ranbir recalled the time when he was set to make his debut opposite Anil’s daughter Sonam Kapoor in ‘Saawariya’ and would go to her house for rehearsing.
Ranbir recalled that Anil had told him, “I never play fathers’ roles, but I will play your father’s role.”
Later Anil shared that he had also said yes to Dil Dhadakne Do when Ranbir was a part of it. But, they couldn’t work together. Eventually, ‘Animal’ happened.
Meanwhile, for those not in the know, Raveena Tandon was initially cast for ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’, to play Shefali Shah’s part. Raveena told Etimes in a chat recently that things somehow could not materialise on Dil Dhadakne Do, but she is waiting to work with Zoya Akhtar.
