Alia Bhatt opens up on why she she to repeat her wedding saree at National Film Awards: ‘It felt like me’

Alia Bhatt made heads turn and left everyone surprised as she opted to re-wear her wedding saree as she won her first National Award. The actress won the award for ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi‘. She was accompanied by her husband Ranbir Kapoor as she received her award from President Droupadi Murmu. The actress had shared some pictures from the National Awards Ceremony. She said, “A photo, a moment, a memory for life 🤍”
Now the actress has opened up on why she decided to repeat her wedding saree.Alia said during an interaction with HT Summit that when the award was announced, instinctively she felt like she’s going to re-wear her wedding saree because while the saree was ideated and curated by Sabyasachi Mukherjee, ‘it felt very me’. The saree had a lot of Alia and her personality.

When she won the award, she took to social media and wrote, “To Sanjay Sir..To the entire crew..To my family..To my team & last but most definitely not the least. To my audience.. ♥️This national award is yours .. because without you ALL none of this would be possible.. seriously!!! I am SO grateful 🙏.. I do not take moments like these lightly.. I hope to continue to entertain for as long as I can..Love and light.. Gangu (also known as alia) 🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍”

She further congratulated Kriti Sanon who she shared her Best Actress award with and said, “P.S – Kriti .. I remember messaging you the day I saw Mimi .. it was such an honest and powerful performance.. I cried and cried.. so so well deserved.. shine on you star… the world is your oyster 🦋 @kritisanon.”
At the moment, Alia is shooting for ‘Jigra’ which she has co-produced with Karan Johar. It is directed by Vasan Bala.
