NEW DELHI: NSA Ajit Doval discussed efforts to ensure regional security with his counterparts from Mauritius and Sri Lanka in the sixth edition of the Colombo Security Conclave (CSC) in Mauritius on Thursday.
“Doval emphasised the crucial role of CSC in ensuring regional security and stability, and highlighted the significance of continued engagements under the different pillars of cooperation.Members also agreed on a Roadmap of Activities for 2024,” said the Indian high commission in a post on X.
Talks covered all the five pillars of cooperation of the CSC which include maritime safety and security, countering terrorism and radicalisation, combating trafficking and transnational organised crime, cyber security, protection of critical infrastructure and technology and humanitarian assistance and disaster relief.
India, Maldives, Mauritius and Sri Lanka are the CSC member-states and Bangladesh and Seychelles are Observers. Significantly, the Maldives, where a new government has just taken over under a leader considered pro-China, Mohammed Muizzu, did not participate in the meeting. There was no official word from Male, or any other member-state, about the absence of the Maldives in the meeting. Muizzu has been pressing India to pull out its military personnel from the archipelago.
It is learnt that the meeting reviewed regional security scenarios and ways to boost security cooperation.
