AICTE nod must to offer BBA, BCA from 2024-25 | India News

CHENNAI: To offer BBA, BCA degrees from 2024-25, all arts and science colleges will have to get approval from the All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). So far, colleges got approval from affiliated universities for BBA, BCA and from the AICTE for MCA and MBA courses. Officials clarified that other courses such as BCom and BA will not be brought under the AICTE.
AICTE will come up with a new model curriculum and textbooks for the UG programmes and prescribe a minimum number of teachers and classrooms.
“Management, computer application courses are changing globally. Artificial intelligence and generative AI are getting popular, and industries expect different kinds of management courses. The courses will include all these emerging areas,” AICTE chairman T G Sitharam told principals of colleges in an online meeting on Tuesday.
“The first-year students from 2024-25 onwards will come under AICTE regulations. Students from all streams will continue to be able to join the MBA programme,” he added.
An official said institutions can get AICTE approval by submitting the basic information they now give for the All-India Survey on Higher Education.
