7 dead, 2 injured after SUV carrying electrocuted man rams into truck | India News

LUCKNOW: Seven people were killed and two others sustained grievous injuries after the SUV they were travelling in ploughed into a stationary truck on Kamasin Road in Baberu police station area of Banda on Thursday night.
The victims were on their way to Baberu community health centre (CHC) when around 10pm, their vehicle rammed into a stationary truck, reducing the SUV to pulp, said SO, Baberu, Santosh Singh.
Police added they were taking one Kallu of Tilotha village to the CHC after he had come in contact with a live wire.
His mother Saira Bano, along with local residents Kaif, Hashim, Jahid, Shaqib, Jameel, Nasir and others were in the SUV.
Singh said the driver of the truck managed to escape while hearing the noise of a loud thud, the locals informed the police.
“With the help of the local people and police, all the passengers were pulled out and taken to a nearby hospital where doctors declared seven of them brought dead. The two who survived were referred to the district hospital. Their identities are being ascertained,” said Singh.
Banda superintendent of police Abhinandan said that efforts to catch the errant truck driver were underway while prima facie it appeared that the SUV was cruising at 120 km per hour and the driver, who also died, failed to control it.
