BHUBANESWAR: Odisha Police’s Jharsuguda unit have withdrawn the firearm of a constable after he allegedly vented his anger against a former MLA of Brajarajnagar, reports Debabrata Mohapatra. The move came amid a rattled police force still trying to gather the pieces following the murder of health minister Naba Kisore Das last month by one of their own.
The constable, currently posted in Kolabira police station, was disarmed following a report submitted by the inspector in-charge (IIC) Sukumar Tripathy to Jharsuguda SP Smit Parmar a few days ago. However, neither the IIC nor the SP agreed to comment.
Police sources said the constable recently shouted inside the police station, attracting everyone’s attention. When his colleagues inquired about the cause of his anger, the constable said he was aggrieved at the former MLA. In a fit of rage, he allegedly even threatened to assault the former MLA, sending the district police into a tizzy.
