JAIPUR: Congress announced Tuesday its fourth and fifth lists of candidates containing 56 and five names respectively for the November 25 Rajasthan assembly elections, but didn’t declare a contender for the Jhalrapatan constituency held by BJP leader and former CM Vasundhara Raje. The party’s directive is to find a candidate who can provide strong opposition to Raje and is not considered an easy opponent.
Three controversial Congress leaders, including cabinet ministers Mahesh Joshi and Shanti Dhariwal, as well as RTDC chairman Dharmendra Rathore, who were previously served AICC notice for indiscipline over holding a parallel Congress Legislative Party meeting in Jaipur on September 25, 2022, have not been included in any of the two latest lists.
Congress has named a total of 156 candidates for the 200-member assembly till Tuesday. The AICC central election committee discussed 29 names for clearance and reviewed the list of candidates shortlisted for each constituency.
