Dussehra is a significant festival in India, also known as Vijayadashami. It marks the end of Navratri and Durga Puja. The celebrations vary across the country, with some states commemorating Lord Rama’s victory over Ravana, while others celebrate Goddess Durga’s triumph over Mahishasura.

Pal Pal Hai Bhaari – Swades

Released in the 2004 film Swades, starring Shah Rukh Khan and Gayatri Joshi, Pal Pal Hai Bhari is the song which features the essence of Dussehra with a Ramleela performed by Geeta (Gayatri) in front of the villagers. The song portrays Sita waiting for Lord Ram in the Ashok Vatika forest. It also showcases the burning of Ravan effigy. The song was sung by Madhushree and Vijay Prakash.

Ghar More Pardesiya – Kalaank

Kalank is a grand historical love story that showcases an extravagant portrayal of the Dussehra festival in the song Ghar More Pardesiya. Beautifully sung by Shreya Ghoshal and Vaishali Mhade, the song features an epic celebration of the festival with Ramleela enacted in the background. The climax scenes show Alia Bhatt’s Roop encountering Varun Dhawan’s Zafar on the stairs of a riverbank, while a Ravan effigy burns in the distance.

Dance Ka Bhoot – Brahmastra: Part 1 – Shiva

The movie Brahmāstra also showcases Dussehra in a more prominent way with a song called Dance Ka Bhoot, sung by Arijit Singh. The lively song depicts Shiva dancing during the Dussehra festivities and concludes with the burning of the effigy of Ravan.

Prem Leela – Prem Ratan Dhan Payo

Serving as an opening sequence for Sooraj Barjatya’s film Prem Ratan Dhan Payo. The song revolves around the Dussehra festival and showcases Prem’s (Salman Khan) narration of Ramleela.
